Father Andrew visits BW for Lenten Ashing
On Monday after half-term, Father Andrew Downes, vicar of St Mary's Sunbury (our Parish Church) visited us for Lenten ashing. As Ash Wednesday this year was in the half term break, this meant that students and staff who wanted to mark the beginning of Lent in this way, had an easy opportunity to or could learn about the tradition, as we walked around the School and grounds at lunchtime. In marking the start of Lent in this way, Christians are reminded by the priest, "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return. Turn away from sin and be faithful to Christ."
