Email Communications

Email can be an excellent method of communication, although unfortunately it can sometimes be used to upset or annoy other people. Emails can be sent from anywhere; it is possible that someone outside of School may try to bully you via email.

You must also remember that you cannot always tell who an email is from; you should never arrange to meet up with someone you do not know who has contacted you by email.

At Bishop Wand we do not allow any type of bullying to take place. It is important for you to know what to do if you ever get an email which upsets or scares you, or if someone you do not know tries to arrange to meet you.

If you get an email from someone you do not know:

  • Do not reply
  • Delete the email
  • If you get more emails from the same person follow the advice below

If you get an email which scares or upsets you:

Tell your Form Tutor, Head of Year, Mr. Griffiths or your ICT Teacher as soon as possible.

Tell your parents or another adult you can talk to.

Forward the email to abuse@bishopwand.surrey.sch.uk add to the email your name and tutor group and if possible your Form Tutor's name. This will be checked during school holidays and term time.

Do not reply to the email.

If you are not sure if you should report it, ask your Form Tutor, ICT Teacher or Mr Griffiths for advice.

Always remember...

Do not give out personal details - name, phone number or address in emails.

Never arrange to meet someone you don't know.

Don't allow someone to upset or bully you, always report it.

Never allow anyone else access to your password.

You can always ask for advice if you are not sure.
