Henry Vialardi Photography Competition

Meeting headteacher

The winners of the Henry Vialardi Photography Competition met with Mr Aldridge on Friday, 3rd February 2023 to celebrate their achievement. The competition took place in remembrance of an ex pupil, Henry Vialardi, who sadly took his own life in 2021. Henry studied A Level Photography at Bishop Wand gaining an A* and his skills and ability were exceptional. Henry’s family were keen to promote the subject of Mental Health through this competition and reach out to young people who may be going through a tough time to seek help, to know they are loved by many and that no problem cannot be solved by talking to someone.

The winners were:

Key Stage 3 - 1st Joseph, 2nd Jack and 3rd Dylan

Key Stage 4 - 1st Ben, 2nd Lucie and 3rd Maryam

Key Stage 5 - 1st Maia, 2nd Sophie and 3rd Jasmine

The Art Department was very impressed with the standard and skills shown from Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Thank you to all students that took part. There were a range of different types of photography ranging from still life to landscape.

Congratulations to the students that came first, Joseph, Ben and Maia. Joseph captured a beautiful reflection of a tree beside a river, Ben explored forced perspective and Maia showed an amazing ability to capture portraiture using studio lighting.
