At The Bishop Wand School we have high expectations for our students in all aspects of school life, including the uniform they wear to School. I am writing to re-confirm arrangements for student uniform from September 2012 and a booklet outlining our specific requirements for uniform and other issues such as jewellery, make-up and hair is attached for your information.
As you are aware in 2010/2011 we undertook a review of our uniform styles and as a result in September 2011 new styles were introduced. This included new girls' and boys' blazer, girls' trousers and a skirt exclusively designed for The Bishop Wand School. In particular, the introduction of a bespoke skirt is in response to feedback from parents/carers regarding the lack of availability of knee length skirts that meet our uniform specification.
In September 2012 it will be compulsory for all students in Years 7 to 10 to wear the new style blazer and for girls to wear the new style School skirt or trousers. As regards Year 11 it will be compulsory for students to wear the new style School skirt and trousers, however it will not be compulsory for them to wear the new style blazer and therefore for academic year 2012/2013 they should continue to wear their existing style blazer.
You will also note that there have been some minor changes to our requirements for Sports Wear and in this regard from September 2012 it will be compulsory for all Year 7 girls to wear a Sports Top for PE and Sport. However, Years 8 to 11 girls can continue to wear their fleeces should they wish and it is not compulsory for them to wear the Sports Top.
The School and Sanco, our partner uniform supplier, are also delighted to offer our families the opportunity to attend a 'Pop Up' Shop at The Bishop Wand Church of England School on Friday 27th July 2012. This event offers an excellent opportunity for all our families to view, try on and purchase new uniform for their children for September 2012. Please see attached 'handout' for further information as to the arrangements for the event and also details of incentives being offered by Sanco on all purchases over £50.00.
If you would like further clarification on any aspect or our uniform policy do not hesitate to contact Mrs Denny on 01932 778640 or Miss Hunt on 01932 778603 who will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
