Review of School Special Bus Services Dear Students and Parents,
You may be aware from media coverage and local displays that Surrey County Council are currently undertaking a review of local bus services. As part of this review they are considering the extent to which Special Services to Schools should be reduced in order to rebalance the overall bus subsidy.
Surrey County Council have indicated that it is expected that there will be a reduction in the number of School Special bus services and in respect of our School this could mean the removal of the 655 and 695 services which are widely used by our students.
The Bishop Wand Church of England School is part of the Phase One consultation process which will run to 31st January 2010. Any feedback received from the consultation process will be included in a report to Cabinet on 2nd March 2010 and at this meeting a decision will be taken on the extent to which Special Services to School should be reduced. Any reduction in services will take effect from 1st September 2010.
I am extremely concerned as regards these proposals and the impact that removal of the service would have on students and their families.
Students and parents have been invited to comment on these proposals and if your son or daughter currently uses the 655 or 695 service or you anticipate them using it in the future I would strongly urge you to complete the survey by the deadline of 31st January 2010.
