The Bishop Wand School Sport Partnership is now in its fifth year and continues to strive towards enhancing sporting opportunities for young people.

Our Partnership incorporates 45 Infant and Primary School, 4 special schools, 9 secondary schools and 2 colleges. We have had a fantastic year and through the dedication and hard work of our SSCo team we won the ‘Sporting Impact & Innovation in Schools Award' at the Surrey Sports Awards in Cobham in October 2008. The Partnership won the award for our development of a new approach to delivering intra/inter school competition for KS1.

Our PESSCL Results for 2008/2009 showed that % of pupils across our Partnership were participating in 2 hours of HQ curriculum PE and 54% of pupils participating in 3 hours of HQ PE and school sport. This demonstrates that we are having a real impact on enhancing the uptake of sporting opportunities for young people.

The PESSYP strategy (formerly known as the PESSCL strategy) is the key focus for our Partnership. We are working hard to ensure that all pupils have access to 2 hours of high quality PE and 1 extra hour of sport beyond the curriculum at school. It is up to our Community Clubs to offer children the opportunity to participate in an additional 2 hours of physical activity/ sport. We are working closely with our community and club providers to support them in delivering these opportunities for young people. We are looking forward to building on our key strengths next year and striving closer to the Government's 5 hour offer.
