Planned Admissions, Year 7
The Governing Body has responsibility for admissions at the School and in the School year beginning September 2010 will admit 180 students to Year 7.

Governors will give top priority to children looked after by a Local Authority. Children with a statement of special educational need naming The Bishop Wand School are automatically given a place at the School.

The Bishop Wand Church of England School operates an equal preference system. In the event of over subscription the governors will apply the Admissions Criteria in numerical order.

Casual Admissions, All Years
If you are enquiring about a casual admission to the School i.e. one that is not part of the new Year 7 September intake, please contact the School's Admissions Officer who will be able to tell you whether or not a place is available in the year group you are interested in.

Should there be the possibility of a place, you will be sent an Application Form. Parents should be aware that submission of an application does not guarantee that a place will become available for your child.

On receipt of the completed Application Form your child's current/previous school will be contacted and relevant information collected. Once this data has been received it is usual that you and your child would be asked in to School for an interview with the Headteacher. It is also possible that the relevant Head of Year and other members of the School staff, would also be present at the meeting.

Please note that with the exception of Year 7 The Bishop Wand Church of England School does not maintain any waiting lists for places.

Current Year 7 Waiting List
This Waiting List comprises all students/families who applied for a place in the September intake, but were unsuccessful due to over-subscription. The Waiting List is compiled using the admissions criterion, by the Admissions Committee. The List is held for the period of one academic year only and is then dissolved.

School Tours
Regular tours around the School during the working day take place during October.
Should you require a tour at any other time, please contact our Admissions Officer who will be happy to make the necessary arrangements. Please be aware that all tours commence at 9.15am.
