Bishop Wand Students Go From Strength to Strength

We are delighted that our students at Bishop Wand have again managed to achieve some of the best examination results in the country and at a time when almost all subjects are now being examined in the new 9-1 grade GCSE’s.

In total, 75% of students passed the new GCSE’s with English and Maths at Grade 4, an incredible achievement.  Our students have risen to the challenge and secured results that will have life changing outcomes. With the percentage of entries achieving the top 9-7 band at 26% of all grades – our students have again shown that they can complete with the very best.

Under the new examination system, 87% of our students achieved a new level 4 pass or above in English and 78% of our students achieved the level 4 pass in Maths.

Our students and their families should be rightfully proud of their individual results. As a school, we are pleased to demonstrate a sustained level of outcomes over a number of years, with 2019’s headline figures for achievement and progress amongst the highest in the country.

While we are proud of all our students, some exceptional individual results were achieved and are noted below.

The grade 9 is equivalent to a grade A** while a grade 8 is an A* with a 7 representing the old A boundary.

We also have many students who achieved outstanding grades and made significant progress in their time at Bishop Wand exceeding the targets set based on their KS2 scores and in the process becoming role models to all our students, showing the power of hard work and determination. The following students all achieved on average more than 2 grades above their target grades.
