Duke of Edinburgh Expedition
Last weekend saw 47 Year 10 students complete the expedition section of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award in the Box Hill area of the Surrey Hills. They join the 60 students who had already completed this section in the Summer term. Students now have until the Christmas holidays to complete the Volunteering, Skills and Physical sections of their award.
This Year saw over 200 Bishop Wand students partake in the Duke of Edinburgh award over 11 different weekends with record numbers of students taking part in the Bronze and Silver award.
We also ran the Gold award for the first time in the School’s history with 26 Sixth Form students completing their expeditions during the summer holiday. The school continues to be one of the largest providers of the Duke of Edinburgh award in south England and hopefully, we will continue to have one of the highest completion rates too.
The Bronze and Gold awards will be launched to our current Year 9 and Year 12 students in the coming weeks. The Silver award will be launched to our Year 10 students in the New Year once they have completed their Bronze award.
Well done to all who have taken part this year, we look forward to celebrating your achievements at our awards ceremony in March 2019.
