Duke of Edinburgh Awards Evening

It was a very proud occasion for our School on  28th,  March 2017 as we held our first Duke of Edinburgh Awards evening since the School became a Directly Licenced Centre.

During the course of the evening , 80 students from Year 10 received the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, whilst 61 Year 11 students achieved the Silver Award.  The Bishop Wand Church of England School currently has the largest cohort of students achieving the Duke of Edinburgh Award in Spelthorne and  one of the largest in the South East region.

We were delighted to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Spelthorne to our School for this event  and also Mr Christian Scott who is Director of  the Duke of Edinburgh Award for the  South East of England,  who presented the awards to students .

Over 80% of students who set out to achieve a Bronze Award completed it whilst a staggering 99% completed the Silver Award. These figures are truly remarkable, and far higher than the 55% national average, and are testament to the students hard work, dedication and commitment.

On behalf of Mr Worrell, Mr Leonard and Mrs Adams  we would like to offer our congratulations to all students  who received an award and also extend a huge  ‘thank you’ to all our colleagues in School  who supported the expeditions during their  weekends.
